Keep those kids engaged with this cool, half-term guide

Keep those kids engaged with this cool, half-term guide

So like you I totally get your sheer panic and despair when those pesky kids are off school (again I know!) How do you burn off as much energy as quickly as possible, but keep them happy and fully engaged at all times?

I can’t promise I have all the answers, but I do have a lot of knowledge about things to do with the kids at the world renowned tourist hotspots, to the weirdest and wackiest attractions in London town. I also know that from using Discount London many, many times they always have the best deals, especially to wash away those #januaryblues!

Here are my top 6 handy hints and tips as I love the number 6:-

1. Take a selfie with Donald Trump & meet Voice favourite will.i.am

Love him or hate him, the most powerful man in the world with the smuggest smirk to suit, is now at Madame Tussauds London for all you selfie lovers out there! Costing a cool £150,000 I wonder if Donald paid for his life like model from his multi-million pound fortune?

Watch The Voice on a Saturday night? Lyrical legend and king of the witty one liners will.i.am will have his own waxwork, where kids can pretend to take up his role as head coach, whilst their friends can sit in the famous chairs as they take up the roles of the other judges. Kids love play acting, I know mine do...

This famous waxworks is always enhancing its portfolio of film and TV stars, just some of my highlights include The Royal Family, the Star Wars exhibition, world leaders and marvel super heroes. The kids will love seeing and touching all their favourite stars!

2. Join The Trolls Dance Party Troop

Now…unlike Madame Tussauds this will really get kids moving at Shrek’s Adventure – are they the next dance star?
The Trolls are bought to life, you can meet Poppy or Branch – your dance judges who will be judging you on your silky smooth dance moves. What you want to do is receive the ultimate compliment – ‘you tore up the dance floor’.  And no… dad dancing is banned, the trolls do not like this dance style, take it from me! Kids receive a sticker which always goes down a treat.

3. Kids can become zoo vets for the day

London Zoo have a new, exciting role play experience, named Animal Hospital.  It’s safe to say that kids love animals and this gives them the ideal stage to become a vet for a day – yes this does mean dressing up with gloves and masks before they go into ‘surgery’. X-rays and toy treatments are the order of the day, you could say that this is work experience starting incredibly early, so the kids get to learn, as well as have fun.  But will they want to keep 18,000 animals in pristine condition after their day being a vet?

4. Don’t forget the money saving packages and big offers

If you have longer than a few hours to visit one attraction and are looking to fill the whole half-term week up then Discount London have a range of options.

My best ones are the gold and silver attraction packages, as well as the cluster ticket, as it gives you the flexibility to visit the attractions when you like, plus you save £££££s, which for me is a huge factor when planning a busy itinerary for the kids.

5. Enter a world of the weird and wacky

I’ve seen that Ripley’s Believe It or Not are offering a huge 54% off adult and child tickets, so if you want to see shrunken heads, the world’s tallest man, the Lizard man, plus enjoy interactive exhibits such as The Mirror Maze and Black Hole this is the place that the family can totally lose their minds and their children if they’re not careful. And if you're a fan of Tim Burton's fantasy movie, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, a new exhibition is opening from 7th February to 5th March!

6. Jump on an open top bus to see all the landmarks

The original open top bus is such a fantastic way to see the whole city, and what is even better is you get 24 extra hours FREE for the price of 24 hours. There are 6 fantastic routes, so I would suggest you need more than 24 hours anyway to see it all.  There is great added value here as you also get three walking tours, a hop on, hop off Thames River Cruise, plus a kids club pack and kids commentary – all for FREE too. This is a great way to keep them occupied!
