Open Top Bus Tour
On Saturday 11th June owing to Trooping of The Colour there will be some disruption to our services due to many road closures planned between 8am and 4pm.
The following stops will be affected:
• Buckingham Palace: No Yellow Route or Red while traffic is held up twice during the ceremonies; due to security no specific time given, staff members will be notified on the day.
• All stops on Whitehall and Parliament Street: No service on any of the routes until 4pm.
Also on Saturday there will be World Naked Bike Ride involving up to 1000 cyclists which will assemble at approx. 3pm at Hyde Park, Regents Park and Kings Cross. They will be merging into bigger groups throughout the ride. Roads mostly affected will be Park Lane, Piccadilly, Haymarket, Pall Mall East, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Parliament Street, Bridge Street, Westminster Bridge, York Rd, Aldwych, Strand, Fleet St, Ludgate Hill, Cannon St, Kingsway, Charing Cross, The Mall, Constitution Hill, Hyde Park Corner. No diversions planned but it may cause delays to services when either crossing the route or following it.
On Sunday 12th June Pall Mall East will be closed until 8pm to facilitate the ‘live’ event of the Patron’s Lunch.
The following stops will be affected with disruptive service:
• Parliament Street (northbound), Horse Guards’ Parade: no Yellow or Green service between 10am and 11.40am.
• Trafalgar Studios: No Green or Red service between 10am and 11.40am.
• Banqueting House: No Green service between 10.05am and 11.45am.
St Paul's Cathedral: Filming and photography is not allowed inside the cathedral and we ask visitors not to use their mobile phones. Photography is however allowed from the exterior Galleries (Stone and Golden Galleries) which offer fantastic 360° panoramic views of London.
St Paul’s Cathedral is a working church and special services or events may sometimes close all or part of the cathedral - please check before your visit.
The IPod touch multimedia guide is included and offered to all individual visitors. It is available in 11 languages and provides up to 90 minutes of self guided content.
As part of a review into how cathedral users enter, explore, and exit the cathedral building during sightseeing hours, the Crypt door at street level on the NW corner of St Paul’s will be exit only for the period 29th June to 29th August.
This will mean that over this trial period the toilets, shop and café, which are usually accessible in the un-ticketed western end of the Crypt, will only be accessible to cathedral sightseers who have already entered the Cathedral.
We envisage the only impact being for guides and group leaders who may usually like to use the Crypt toilets before entering the Cathedral at the main West end entrance. Over this trial period they should either amend their route and first enter the Cathedral at the main West end entrance before heading down to the Crypt toilets during the visit, or use alternative external toilets before arriving at the Cathedral.
