ESCAPE THE GREAT FIRE
Feel the heat as London burns!
Opens Saturday May 21 2016

A major new multi-sensory experience packing a historical punch and plenty of heat will get pulses racing and temperatures rising at the London Dungeon when it opens on 21 May. Marking the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of London, ‘Escape the Great Fire’ will recreate the drama of one of the world’s most famous disasters with live actors, themed settings and sizzling special effects.

Guests will be transported back to London’s Great Fire (2 September 1666). The sparks from Thomas Farriner’s bakery in Pudding Lane have set the packed timber houses of London alight and the city has become a raging inferno. The flames are so hot cooked pigeons are dropping out of the sky, the streets are running with molten lead and St Paul’s is burning to the ground. Londoners are fleeing the Capital, piling into boats on the river to escape the destruction as panic sweeps the city. Intrepid guests will find sanctuary in the house of the Lord Mayor and meet his faithful servant whilst the carnage unfolds outside.

Boom! The deafening sound of gunpowder explosions suddenly fills the air and screams ring out in the nearby streets: the firefighters are blowing up houses to stop the fire spreading – and the Mayor’s house is next!  As the heat rises and the stifling smell of smoke permeates the air, the flames begin to creep under the door, quickly engulfing the room as the house begins to collapse. Guests will need all their wits to escape un-singed!

Those who do escape the fire will have plenty more scares (and a fair few laughs) in store as the London Dungeon unleashes 1000 years of London’s dark history in 19 shows, featuring some of history’s greatest rogues and villains, two thrilling rides and plenty of edge-of-the-seat surprises.

"Firstly i'd like to say my dealings with Discount London was and always is 1st class The actual visit to London Dungeons - The group for tour is to large and if at back it's hard to hear...what doesn't help was being grouped with a group of noisy French students with their teacher constantly sssshhhh them so as i didn't get to hear the majority of the tour i came away disapointed....through no fault of the excellent tour guides/actors John"

"At first, due to it being quite cheap with two attractions I was quite hesitant and wasn't too sure about this site. Just to make it clear. IT WORKS! Great communication but was unable to use the tower bridge tickets due to late admission. But overall great!"

"Apart from the slow start when you queue before the actual tour starts it was a really entertaining, professional performance. I was very impressed with the actors who genuinely made you believe they were the characters. Well done London Dungeon, I would certainly recommend you to other families. Tower Bridge is worth seeing from a historical and also entertaining perspective as the glass floor is something else."

"It worked a treat! Was expecting a little hassle or a bit of a wait, but neither. Walked into London Dungeon, exchanged voucher for tickets and straight in and same for Tower Bridge Experience. Overall, very impressed. "

  • "fast talkers!"

"At both venues the guides spoke very quickly. I'm English and struggled to keep up! The Dungeon, although each scene was ambient, didn't fully convey any real fear. The Tower Bridge Experience was ok...probably more impressive at night."

  • "Great Day Out for Visiting Friends"

"I booked this tour along with the Clipper hop on hop off boat and it was a great day out. The London Dungeon is fantastic and so much fun - we had sore jaws from laughing so much - a great effort by all the actors, well done. The Tower Bridge experience was very informative and interesting and something I wouldn't have thought of doing but was glad we did as the view was superb. Great pictures taken of the London skyline from all angles - they even have little opening window slots so that you get a perfect picture as if you are standing outside. Great value for money and an excellent day out if you combine them with a hop on hop off boat cruise - we ended up at the O2 at the end of our day which was brilliant!"

"We had a fantastic day visiting the Tower Bridge Exhibition and the London Dungeon. The Tower Bridge Exhibition has beautiful views of the major city attractions and glass floor view is exhilarating. The view from the glass floor is spectacular. The exhibition displays all famous bridges from around the world. The engine room was also quite good. The atmosphere in London Dungeon is quite scary with all its sound effects. Our best part was the leeches effect. It is worthwhile when you purchase these 2 tickets together as you get more value for money. "

  • "Great - but definitely slightly scary!"

"This was an excellent deal and we did have a great day out! The Tower Bridge Exhibition was a nice added extra - not something we would necessarily have chosen to do, but good fun all the same and some excellent views - their initial video that you watch was also brilliant. The London Dungeons was also great fun - although as I am a massive wimp I hadn't really anticipated how scared I would be - more for the unknown than for what actually happened. I would also say if you are squeamish then it wouldn't really be for you as they do go into quite a lot of detail! My friend who had really wanted to go absolutely loved it - and loved it more for the fact that myself and our other friend were quite nervy, but the actual quality of the things there, I was impressed. Small children who already have a slightly nervous disposition - or who don't like pitch black I would advise against though! "
